Bio of the Month – September 2023

If you’ve been following along on our social media accounts, this beauty is no stranger! Manika is a Registered Dental Assistant who is studying to become a nurse. She loves to be active and even played in an adult soccer league! As a single mother, her bond with her daughter Destinee is unparalleled. She spends much of her free time encouraging Destinee’s passions and showing up as her number one fan for dance competitions.

Manika works hard every day to provide for her daughter, but also makes time for the magic in life. As a Southern California native, you can find her on Main Street, U.S.A. at Disneyland Park whenever she has free time! She lives life to the fullest and believes that you should always work hard for what you want in life.

Manika says surrogacy is always something she has wanted to do, “I just know the love I have when I became a mother, I couldn’t imagine not being able to have a child of my own. I would like to give a family that opportunity.” We can’t put it any better than that!

Jeanette’s Surrogacy Story

Successful surrogate! GC Jeanette was beyond thrilled to finally hear these words from Dr. Rad. Though this wasn’t her first journey as a surrogate, this was her first completed journey with Building Families.
Jeanette checked in at 5am on Friday, August 4 for her induction. After a little over 12 hours the doctor broke her water and four hours later, baby boy was safe in his parents arms. One of her best moments during labor was listening to her husband prepare her Intended Parents for delivery. She said that his support was not only invaluable to her during this time, but to her IPs as well. He has been with her in the delivery room 6 times now!
Post delivery, bringing her family to meet the baby was really amazing. She reflects on how this experience was different from her previous and looks forward to continuing the relationship going forward. For us, we know that Jeanette is forever a part of our family and we have truly loved being on this journey with her and her family!

Manika’s Surrogacy Story!

At BFI, we are all in on every surrogacy story. We have such special connections with each gestational carrier and their intended parents. GC Manika, was absolutely no exception! Not only is she a lifetime member of our family, but her amazing daughter, Destinee, is as well. Witnessing Destinee step up into the support role for her Mama was incredible.
When Manika was unexpectedly induced at 36 weeks, her daughter held her hand through the whole process. Manika and her couple reflected on the experience, saying that although the delivery time came as a surprise, they felt as though every moment was planned because of the careful preparation from BFI. Manika’s OB, her support team, and her couple knew exactly what they needed to do when it mattered most. Her Intended Mom was an amazing motivator through labor and delivery and really kept her going as well! Tiny but mighty at 4lbs 11oz and 17 inches long, her surrobabe filled every inch of her parents hearts!
Post delivery, Manika was able to share a room with her IPs and baby until they went home. She said that watching her IPs fully embrace their new roles was an amazing experience. It was the best part of her journey!

Bio of the Month – July 2023

This bubbly, beautiful, and bright lady is GC Britney! She’s busy living her best life in Southern California with her soulmate, Lestter, and their four children; Aiden, Elijah, Raelyn, and Rhett. She is a personal trainer who is rarely found without a smile on her face and a positive anecdote to share.

When we asked Britney her philosophy on life she said, “Life is a simple, beautiful, yet complicated thing. You are never guaranteed tomorrow, so don’t stress about things you cannot control, laugh always, and love hard. Learn something new every day and go to sleep with a smile on your face. Enjoy every moment, even if it is laundry day and the kids are driving me nuts.” We couldn’t sum it up any better ourselves!

Why surrogacy for Britney? When her younger sisters were beginning to start their families, she was filled with a certainty that she would be a gestational carrier for them if the need was there. It made her realize how much of a blessing to her life and someone else’s surrogacy could be. She is excited to be on this journey and we are so thankful it led her to us! Miracle Babe!

Here’s GC Jeanette looking super cute with her 34 week bump-date! Surro-babe is growing nice and strong and everyone is so thrilled about their impending arrival!! We especially can’t wait to see the new parents with their little miracle babe- it’s really the best part.
