Yolanda’s Surrogacy Story

Love at first sight…that’s how GC Yolanda describes her first in person meeting with her Intended Parents. Because her IP’s are located in London, they built their relationship through online communication. They are a true testament to the value of virtual connection.

This wasn’t Yolanda’s first pregnancy, nor her first surrogacy journey, but she says that it felt like she was going through it all for the first time. It wasn’t an easy pregnancy and delivery didn’t fit the narrative. She had a Friday afternoon NST that her couple joined her for and they were planning to head to a dinner out with her family. Baby boy had a plan of his own though! The next twenty-four hours found Yolanda induced and her IP’s anxiously awaiting his arrival. On 4:54pm on April 30, 2022, 7lbs 2oz and 19 inches of perfection arrived into daddies’ waiting arms. Yolanda says that seeing her IP’s hold their baby was the highlight of her journey and worth every second of pregnancy and labor. She says “if I could have five, ten more babies for them I would, but my body just doesn’t want to work with my heart on this one!”

This may have been Yolanda’s ‘retirement journey,’ but she’s a part of our family forever!

Jamie’s Surrogacy Story

After delivering their son in July 2020, Jamie was so excited to embark on a sibling journey with her couple just one year later. On April 29, 2022 she had the extreme pleasure of making her surro-babe a big brother! Baby sister was born at 9:18pm, weighing a petite six pounds, one ounce. Both parents were able to witness her entrance into the world!

The best part of a journey is seeing your intended parents with their baby and Jamie had the unique opportunity to see her couple adapt to life as a family of four! We’re so grateful to have been a part of their journey and are overjoyed to have them all as BFI Family!

“I feel like I was put on earth to be able to give someone this gift of life,” says GC Maricruz. There is literally nothing more beautiful than hearing a gestational carrier tell you in her own words her “why” or reason for seeking out a surrogacy journey.

A stay at home mother to her three children, Maricruz believes in living a grateful life. She looks for the good in every situation and brings joy to those around her. Introducing Amy! This proud mom of four (five if you count her furbaby) is the happiest when bringing joy to those around her. It’s no surprise that she found her way to our family! Her personal philosophy is to practice forgiveness. She feels that life is too short to miss out on precious memories with her loved ones and time is the one thing you can never get back! Now that her own family is complete, she is thrilled to have the opportunity to help another couple experience that journey as well. Be sure to keep an eye out for updates on her story!

Carol’s Corner – New Years’ Resolutions

I think everyone does this although many say they don’t.  We must take the time to self-reflect in order to grow, change and become who we are meant to be.  I do this, but honestly, more than once a year.  A year is too long to adjust the trajectory to ensure I get where I want to be, or at least in the vicinity.

 

I begin with the end in mind.  My initial thoughts go to my relationships.  Personal first and then professional.  I am a person of faith, so my relationship with the Lord is always first as I lean on Him a lot!  Then my loved ones, which, there are many!  I am the youngest of 7 children and I have 7 grandchildren.  I strive to be the best parent, grandparent, and sister as that is what they deserve.  

 

If you know me at all, you know that my personal and professional lives are intertwined. How can they not?  I have so much love and gratitude for all of our Surrogates and the families they help to build.  They and their families are in my daily prayers. And, it goes without saying, my family members include BFI’s Randi, Shannon, Lauryn, Mandy, Christine, Ana, Dr. Rad, and Dr. Natasha and their families.  Whew, what a large family I have!!!  I wouldn’t have it any other way.  

 

What are your resolutions for this year?  Or, in other words, what are your short-term goals?  A year will fly by so be sure to take the time to examine where you are and where you want to be.  Then you can build the path towards that future.  Be sure to have fun along the way!!!

Bright, bubbly, and beautiful – gestational carrier, Mickayln, leaves a little sparkle wherever she goes! When she’s not spending time with her three girls you can find her exploring her creativity with a craft or getting the perfect shot for her photography business. She’s a natural nurturer and strives to teach her children patience and respect. Her empathetic soul ultimately led her to BFI; she loves that she is able to help a couple become a family through surrogacy.
