Nunca lo he dicho en público, pero mi esposa ha sido madre subrogada y ha gestado un bebé para ayudar a otra familia que no podía tener más hijos después de haber tenido su primer hijo. Fue tan surrealista estar en la sala de partos ayer y ver a mi esposa tener este bebé y luego entregárselo a sus padres. Es una sensación inexplicable para todos. Los padres son tan atentos, tan agradecidos, nos han dado todo su apoyo y son muy cariñosos. Escucharles y verles llorar de alegría cuando escucharon el llanto de su bebé por primera vez fue increíble. Ser testigo de traer vida a este mundo para otro que no puede está sin duda en el top 5 de las cosas más increíbles que me han pasado en en la vida.
Para los padres: Shannan y yo os queremos chicos. Vuestro apoyo ha sido increíble y estamos felices de que estamos hechos los unos para los otros. Gracias por darnos esta oportunidad de experimentar algo que no muchos consiguen experimentar. Disfrutad a vuestro bebé, nunca os olvidaremos, esperamos toda una vida de amistad con vosotros.

It is not often that we hear about how the surrogacy journey has impacted the Surrogate Mother’s support team. However, after Shannan gave birth to a 6lb 13oz beautiful baby girl on January 26, 2016, her husband, Ryan, posted about the experience from his perspective. He ranked it as a top 5 event that will happen in his life. We couldn’t agree more, Ryan!
Here is his post:
“I never made it public, but my wife was a surrogate and carried the baby for another family who could not have anymore children after the first. It was so surreal to be in the delivery room yesterday and watch my wife have this baby and then passed over to the baby’s parents. It is an unexplainable feeling for everyone. The intended parents are so gracious, so appreciative, so supportive and so loving. To hear them and see them cry in joy when they heard the baby cry for the first time was amazing. Witnessing life being brought into this world for another who couldn’t is an unexplainable top 5 event that will happen in my life.
“To the parents; Shannan and I love you guys. Your support was incredible and we are so happy we were meant for each other. Thank you for giving us this opportunity to experience something not many get to experience. Enjoy your baby, we will never forget you, we look forward to a lifetime of friendship.

Un pequeño error al comprender el proceso de subrogación podría haber cambiado el destino de tres familias diferentes. “Yo era un poco ingenua y asumí que sólo las mujeres solteras que no quisieron tener sus propios hijos eran Madre Subrogadas”, dijo Jennifer al inicio de sus tres veces como madre subrogada. A minor misconception almost changed the destiny of three different families. “I was naive and assumed that only single women who didn’t want to have their own children were Surrogates,” said third time Surrogate Mother, Jennifer. Thankfully, a friend of Jennifer’s became a Surrogate and shed some light on the qualities that are necessary in being a successful Surrogate Mom. And after hearing what a wonderful experience her friend was having, Jennifer joined the BFI family shortly after.
Seeing the immediate love and joy on the new parents’ faces was the highlight of all three of Jennifer’s surrogacies, including her final delivery on January 23, 2016. Jennifer stated, “Helping a family in this way is very humbling and reminds you to be grateful for your own children.”
“I like educating people about surrogacy and changing other people’s perception about the process.”, said Jennifer when asked how her perception of surrogacy has changed over the years. Clearly, these experiences have turned Jennifer into a champion for surrogacy.

Es importante comenzar con el hecho de que Mackenzie es una madre subrogada de segunda generación para Building Families. Sí, es así. Su madre, Rochelle, fue madre subrogada con nosotros en 2002 y nuevamente en 2004. ¡¡Este hecho en sí mismo es un gran, gran orgullo y no hay palabras para describir lo sorprendidos y orgullosos que estamos de ello!!
Y luego, la guinda del pastel es que Mackenzie entró a formar parte del programa y ayudó a una pareja que ha tenido muchos más problemas que cualquier otra pareja de las que hemos ayudado en el pasado.¡Ella gestó a los mellizos de esta Pareja y lo hizo a la perfección! El 26 de Diciembre de 2015 marcó el final de la batalla de esta pareja por ser padres y el comienzo de una nueva vida para ellos gracias a su ángel. !!Así se hace, Mackenzie!!
Mackenzie’s Surrogacy Story
It is important to start with the fact that Mackenzie is a second generation Surrogate Mother for Building Families. Yes, that’s right, her mother, Rochelle, was a Surrogate Mother for us back in 2002 and again in 2004. This in itself is a huge, huge compliment and one that there no words to adequately describe how amazed and proud we are of this fact!!
And then, the icing on the cake is that Mackenzie came in and helped a Couple who have had more struggles than any other Couple we have helped in the past many years. She carried twins for them and she made it look easy! December 26, 2015 marked the end of the struggles for this Couple and the beginning of a new life thanks to their angel. Way to go, Mackenzie!!

Vanessa’s due date and her date of delivery was the same day. This is very unusual for us. But the date gave us great joy as it is a very fun day for kids in the US!! Halloween!!
Yes, that’s right, October 31, 2015, Vanessa gave birth to a bouncing baby boy!!! This is a date we won’t ever forget. Happy Halloween!!
Elaina’s Surrogacy Story
If possible, each of Elaina’s pregnancy were easier and easier! Or maybe she just made it look easy?! That is probably more like it. Elaina delivered twins in January 2012, giving these new parents a gift that would last for endless generations to come. She was grateful for the experience and went back to her busy life with her hubby and two kids. Then one day she decided that her retirement from surrogacy was premature. And no one was happier than her new Couple! Because if not for her, their son would not be here!! So, on October 2, 2015 she completed her surrogacy goals and help to realize another special Couple’s goal of parenthood!! Way to go, Elaina!!
