Psychologists
The psychological team provides the comprehensive initial evaluation of the Surrogate Mother, her husband/partner and the Intended Parents.
Building Families, Inc. believes that the psychological component of the Program is as essential as the medical component.
The Psychologist, through oral and written examination, determines if each party has the coping skills and ability to manage
through a Surrogacy Arrangement.
Dr. Vesna Radojevic is the head of the psychological team. She is a licensed clinical psychologist and has been in practice
for over 25 years. Her extensive background and continued research and involvement in surrogacy has assisted her in providing a
comprehensive psychological program for both the Intended Parents and their Surrogate Mother.
The initial evaluation includes the MMPI-2 (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory - 2) exam and a clinical
interview performed by Dr. Radojevic. There are several traits that endorse a profile of an appropriate Surrogate Mother and
Intended Parent. Dr. Radojevic's training and experience make her an expert in diagnostic evaluations which enables her to
identify and rule out those who should not pursue Surrogacy.
Group counseling is provided to all Surrogate Mothers on a monthly basis. In addition, Dr. Radojevic maintains regular
telephone contact with the Surrogate Mothers and the Intended Parents when necessary or requested. This constant involvement
gives Dr. Radojevic and her team the ability to assist not only in the current needs of the Surrogate Mother and her Couple,
but also to recognize and diffuse any potential future problem.
Dr. Radojevic believes that the surrogacy process affects not only the Surrogate Mother, but her husband/partner and children as
well as naturally having an anxiety building effect on the Intended Parents. Due to this belief, she offers support and counseling
for every party involved.
